GRAVETTE -- The Billy V. Hall Senior Activity & Wellness Center in Gravette observed the Mayors for Meals Day as part of a March for Meals campaign.

Gravette Mayor Byron Warren participated on March 7 "to show his support for our community's home-bound and hungry citizens," said Mary Kay Kelley, director of the center. "We are excited about having Mayor Warren participating," she added.

March for Meals is a national campaign during the month of March, said Enid Borden, CEO of Meals on Wheels Association of America. "We thank local leaders for stepping up to the plate and joining our mission."

The meals program at the Billy V. Hall Center is promoted through public events, partnerships with local businesses, volunteers and fundraising activities, Kelley said. She explained: "The Home Delivered Meals Program helps people live independently by delivering nutritionally-balanced hot noon meals to the person at home, Monday through Friday. Frozen meals are delivered for holidays and weekends to the participants who are in need. Frozen meals are also delivered once a week to those who live outside of our meal delivery area."
