GRAVETTE -- It's official. Students in Gravette schools will be attending classes until Tuesday, June 3.

The announcement came this week after the school received information that five of the 15 days lost because of weather, particularly snow, have been waived by the Arkansas Department of Education.

Superintendent Richard Page said the waiver will allow the school to retain two of the spring break days, as planned, and school will also be dismissed Monday, May 26, for Memorial Day.

The makeup snow days are March 21 and 24, 25 and 26, originally a part of scheduled spring break, as well as May 27, 28, 29, 30 and June 2.

Graduation remains unchanged, May 17, as originally planned.

The school had originally built in five snow days, as had many schools, but inclement weather has caused almost all schools, except Springdale, to ask for waivers on days lost. Altogether almost 70 state schools were approved for the waiver exemption.

The Gravette school board has approved 10 snow days built in for next year's calendar.
