TL&M; to hold book and bake sale

COLCORD (Okla.) -- Talbot Library and Museum in Colcord, Okla., will host its annual Book and Bake Sale during the Old Settlers' Day festivities on Saturday, June 7.

The museum plans to host musicians, the Colcord Rodeo Queen contestants, and will offer homemade hamburger dinners for sale.

For the first time, TL&M will host representatives of the Colcord Post Office, offering for sale commemorative "Old Settlers' Day, Colcord, OK 1929-2014" pre-stamped, postmarked envelopes. This will be a unique remembrance of this special day, as well as a valuable item for collectors.

The annual Colcord Picnic has been held since 1929, celebrating the community and the pioneers who settled the area. Prior to 1928, the community was known as Row and a post office was established there in 1903. The town was later named after Charles F. Colcord, a prominent Oklahoman and benefactor to the community.

There will be many events throughout town all day -- including a parade, hog fry, car show, crafts and music. The Colcord Rodeo will be held nightly on June 6 and 7 at the rodeo grounds north of town.

Talbot Library and Museum is located at 500 So.Colcord Ave., Colcord, Okla., and can be contacted at 918-326-4532 or [email protected]. More information is available at www.talbotlibrary.org.
