May is Older Americans Month

GRAVETTE -- May has been designated "Older Americans Month" and special activities are planned all next week at the Billy V. Hall Senior Activity/Wellness Center in Gravette.

Mayor Byron Warren has issued a city proclamation designating May as Older Americans Month and he will be the first guest speaker at the Center on Monday, May 19, at 11 a.m., according to Center director Mary Kay Kelley.

Speakers for the following days include: Tuesday, May 20 -- Dr. Ty Russell, D.C., Gravette, at 11 a.m.; Wednesday, May 21, Dan Yates, Atty. at Law, Gravette, 11 a.m.; Thursday, May 22, Ms. Martin's first grade class will interact by reading to seniors, 11 a.m.; Friday, May 23, Lisa Wolfe, Marketing Rep for Good Shepherd in-home senior care, Bella Vista, 11 a.m.

Warren's proclamation, issued May 1, reads in part: "We urge every resident to take time to recognize older adults and the people who serve and support them as powerful and vital individuals who greatly contribute to the community."
