Westside Eagle Observer will close Gravette office

WESTSIDE -- The business office of the Westside Eagle Observer in Gravette will close May 28 and move operations to the Siloam Springs Herald-Leader at 101 N. Mount Olive St. in Siloam Springs.

The Westside Eagle Observer will continue publishing on its regular schedule, covering the important events in and around Gentry, Decatur and Gravette.

Closing the office and consolidating business operations will improve the paper's financial position, according to the newspaper's publisher, Kent Marts.

"The Westside Eagle Observer, through the weekly newspapers that combined a few years ago to create it, is an institution in western Benton County," Marts said. "This paper is important to the communities it covers and we're committed to keeping it strong. Consolidating operations helps us do that."

Changes in the way customers conduct business with the newspaper reduced the number of people coming to the office, Marts said, reducing the need for the space. Customers can still contact the newspaper through its existing telephone and fax numbers and conduct classified advertising business online at nwaonline.com/classifieds.

"The change in operations will give staff members who cover news and events in our communities more time to do just that," said Randy Moll, managing editor of the newspaper. "Instead of focusing on having a person in the office to keep the doors open, we can focus on being out in the communities we cover and gathering news and stories of interest to our readers," Moll said.

The newspaper's phone number will remain the same, 479-787-5300. The fax number will also remain the same: 479-787-5332.

The newspaper's email address remains [email protected].

The mailing address remains P.O. Box 640, Gravette AR 72736.

Circulation issues are handled by calling 800-482-1121.

Advertising needs can be addressed by calling sales manager Dani Beeman at 479-640-5307.

A person can also visit the offices in Siloam Springs at 101 N. Mount Olive St.

Meanwhile, the paper's staff will continue to cover the people, places and events in Gravette, Decatur and Gentry that make the communities what they are, Marts said. The staff will continue doing so using the same high standards to produce award-winning content that serves the readers.
