Highfill holds brief meeting

HIGHFILL -- In a meeting which lasted less than 10 minutes, the Highfill council passed eight resolutions to authorize mutual aid agreements between Highfill Police and other neighboring law-enforcement agencies, to appoint a person to fill vacant seats on the city water and sewer boards, to allow the city treasurer/recorder to periodically transfer funds from Highfill savings accounts to the city checking account to cover the city's expenses and payments, and to transfer excess sales tax revenue from the water improvement fund to the city's general fund.

Mutual aid agreements were authorized between the Highfill Police Department and neighboring law-enforcement agencies of the Benton County Sheriff's Office and police departments in Gentry, Cave Springs and Centerton. The aid agreements give legal authority to assisting officers and provide policy for chain of command and law-enforcement conduct when assisting agencies outside their own jurisdictions.

With the passage of two resolutions, Mike Reynolds was appointed to fill Position 1 on Highfill's water and sewer committees.

The city's financial report for the month of April was also approved without discussion.

Reported to the council in the brief meeting was that construction on the fire station addition (to be paid for with grant funding) was waiting on final approval of the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality.

Reported by the mayor was the work completed on flower beds and planters at the city hall by Janie Parks of Gentry.
