Libraries partnering with Eagle Observer for drop-off locations

WESTSIDE -- With the closing of the Eagle Observer office in Gravette next week and the desire of our staff to make it easier for residents of the communities we serve to submit items for the newspaper, we are partnering with the local public libraries in Gravette, Decatur and Gentry to set up drop-off points for submitted items.

In Gravette and the surrounding area, people may drop off news items, information and photos for the newspaper at the Gravette Public Library, 407 Charlotte St., S.E., in Gravette. Just let the librarian know it is for the newspaper and she will place it in a basket for us to pick up each week.

In Decatur, items may be left at the Iva Jane Peek Public Library, 121 N. Main Street.

In Gentry, items may be dropped off at the Gentry Public Library, 105 E. Main Street.

Our staff members will stop by the libraries each week (around noon on Friday) and pick up submitted items for the next week's newspaper. Photos and other items which are to be returned will be brought back to the library to be picked up there by the person submitting them.

So that items are not lost or damaged, we ask that they be placed in an envelope with the submitter's name and contact information on it -- in case we have questions and need to call, and so that we can return submitted photos in the envelope to the libraries for their rightful owners.

"We greatly appreciate the assistance of our local public libraries," said Randy Moll, managing editor of the Eagle Observer. "We are hoping this makes it easy for our readers to submit items to the newspaper without leaving their own communities."

Libraries will not handle subscriptions or advertising, and money or checks should not be left for the newspaper at the libraries.

Subscriptions and circulation issues will be handled through our customer service number at 800-482-1121 or by visiting the Herald-Leader office at 101 N. Mount Olive St., Siloam Springs. Advertising needs can be addressed by calling sales manager Dani Beeman at 479-640-5307.

The newspaper's phone number will remain the same, 479-787-5300. The fax number will also remain the same, 479-787-5332.

News items and photos may always be submitted by email to [email protected].

Subscription renewals, payments and news items may also be sent to us via the U.S. Postal Service at P.O. Box 640, Gravette, AR 72736.
