Open house is planned to honor Dodie Evans upon his retirement

GRAVETTE -- The public is invited to an open house honoring Dodie Evans at his retirement from the Westside Eagle Observer, and formerly the Gravette News Herald, after more than 60 years of service to the community.

Evans first worked at the News Herald and then purchased and published it for many years. When he sold the newspaper to Community Publishers and it was later purchased by Wehco Media, he continued to work for the newspaper as editor and reporter, covering local news and events and recording the history and growth of the Gravette community.

The open house will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, June 12, in the community room at the Bank of Gravett. Cake and punch will be served. Readers, friends and acquaintances are invited to stop by and wish Dodie well.
