Gentry students volunteer to raise money for St. Jude

GENTRY -- Dozens of Gentry students are volunteering their time at the St. Jude 5K Give Thanks Walk to be held at Arvest Ballpark on Nov. 22.

Gentry's basketball team is volunteering to play basketball with kids in the kid zone, the Gentry Student Council is acting as the cheer station for the event's finish line, and the Gentry FCCLA is doing a face painting station in the kid zone.

And, if that isn't impressive enough, the students have decided to raise $400 for St. Jude by Nov. 20. The school is selling "tardy passes" which students can purchase for $1. Some students are even donating more than the $1 so that the school can reach its goal.

Through the support of fundraising events like this, families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food when their children come to the medical facilities for treatment. And, St. Jude freely shares the breakthroughs it makes. Every child saved at St. Jude means doctors and scientists worldwide can use that knowledge to save thousands more children.
