Two arrested in alcohol-related Gentry incidents

GENTRY -- Police arrested two men in Gentry for separate alcohol-related offenses.

On Nov. 14, Gentry police arrested Steven Heckard, 38, in connection with a domestic battery incident at the Gentry Motel.

According to an affidavit of probable cause, police were called to the Gentry Motel at 11:15 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 14, because of a woman outside who was covered with blood. When they arrived, they found a woman crying and sitting in a chair with blood covering the left side of her face.

According to the affidavit, the women alleged that her husband, Steven Heckard, had hit her in the face, knocking her to the floor, and then threw a lamp at her.

Both Heckard and his wife appeared to be intoxicated, according to the affidavit. Heckard was arrested in connection with domestic battery in the third degree. He also had an outstanding warrant out of Siloam Springs for failure to appear on charges of public intoxication.

Shortly after 2 a.m. on Nov. 15, Gentry police arrested Andrew Babcock, 26, of Gentry when they observed him driving and had knowledge his license was suspended for driving while under the influence, according to police reports.

According to police reports, Babcock admitted to drinking too much but refused field sobriety and blood alcohol tests. He was taken to the Benton County jail and cited for DWI, refusal to submit to a blood alcohol test, driving on a suspended license and having no proof of insurance.
