Adding bird diverters

For the Birds AEP Transmission installed bird diverters on the top wire of the new 345-kV transmission line near Flint Creek Power Plant, SWEPCO Lake and the Eagle Watch Nature Trail on Thursday. The work was done by helicopter. The bright yellow bird diverters increase the visibility of the static wire, which is smaller in diameter than the three sets of wires below it that carry electricity. The static wire provides lightning protection. Photo by Terry Stanfill
