Gravette Yard Sales

Gravette's citywide yard sale will coincide with Pickin' Time on 59, Thursday through Saturday. No city permits will be required for yard sales or booths, but booths may not be placed on city property and vendors must obtain permission from private property owners.

Family Fall Festival

Heritage Baptist Church is hosting a Family Fall Festival, Wednesday, Oct. 29, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. for children ages birth to sixth grade. Families are welcome. There will be lots of fun games, a cake walk and tons of candy. No scary costumes, please.

Youth Basketball Signup

Gravette Youth Basketball sign ups for Grades 4-6 will be held in the Old Gym on the following dates: Thursday, Oct. 9, 6 to 7 p.m.; and Thursday, Oct. 16, from 6 to 7 p.m.

Baked Potato Dinner

The Gentry Senior Activity and Wellness Center is having a loaded baked potato dinner on Friday, Oct. 10, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Meals include a potato with choice of toppings, dessert and drink for a donation of $6 for adults and $3 for children under 6. The event is to support the senior meal program while enjoying lunch and time together. Call 736-0378 for more information.

Gravette Tailgate Party

Gravette Athletic Boosters will be hosting a tailgating party on homecoming, Oct. 10. Pulled pork dinners with taters, beans and water will be sold for $8 in front Gravette High School practice gym starting at 5 p.m. Fans are urged to bring their lawn chairs and come support the Athletic Boosters and Gravette's student athletes. Alumni are urged to join the spirit line on the field before the game. Each past graduating class needs to sign in at the apparel booth so they can be recognized before the game. Alumni are urged to spread the word, make a few signs for their class and join the fun. The Athletic Boosters will also have a drawing for Gravette Lion apparel for GHS alumni at half-time in the game. To register visit the apparel booth in the concession stand.

Mount Pleasant Revival

Mount Pleasant Baptist Church will hold the closing night of their revival at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8. Sessions will be led by Gene Fulcher, evangelist, and Ernest Lastovica, pastor. Special music is planned.

Coffee with Congressman

A coffee with the congressman event with Representative Steve Womack will be held in the McKee Community Room of the Gentry Public Library, 105 E. Main Street, Gentry, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 9.

BBQ Fundraiser

The Harvest Baptist Church, located at 11036 North Hwy. 59, south of Gravette, will be selling BBQ sandwiches Saturday, Oct. 11, as a fundraiser for the church. Meal will include BBQ sandwich, chips and a drink for $5. Serving will begin at 11 a.m. and continue until sold out. Proceeds go to help fund the Share the Harvest food pantry.

Flu Shots for Students

Free flu shots for students at Gentry Public Schools will be available on Oct. 14. The Benton County Health Unit, in conjunction with Gentry Schools, will be providing free flu shots to all students. Those with insurance are asked to provide insurance information for the County Health Department. Those without health insurance coverage for the shots will be offered the vaccines at no charge. Permission forms will be sent home with every student a week or two before the clinic. Forms must be completely filled out, signed and returned to the school nurse before the vaccines are given.

Senior Center Flu Shots

A flu shot clinic for senior citizens will be held Thursday, Oct. 16, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Billy V. Hall Senior Center, 1870 Limekiln Road, in Gravette. Persons wanting to get a flu shot that day must sign up in advance. A Medicare card is required or $35 is due at the time of vaccination. Call 479-787-5950 for questions or to sign up.

Mayoral Debate

A debate between the two Gravette mayoral candidates, Kurt Maddox and incumbent Byron Warren, will be a feature of the Gravette Kiwanis Club at their regular meeting at 7 a.m., Friday, Oct. 17. The meeting is held in the cafeteria at the Ozarks Community Hospital in Gravette. The public is invited.

New Saturday Hours

The Gravette Public Library is now open on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Weekday hours are Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Fall Music Festival

The Gentry Fall Music Festival is set for 12 noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 12, in the Gentry City Park. The event, sponsored by the Gentry United Way and Gentry Chamber of Commerce, will feature live music, including three area bands and varieties of music: a bluegrass band, John Henry and Friends, from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m.; a gosepel band, Amazing Grace, from 2 to 3:15 p.m.; and a country-rock band, the ShotGunBillys from 3:30 to 5 p.m. The afternoon includes mutton bustin' at 2 p.m., an afternoon car show, pumpkin painting, inflatable rides, and plenty of festival food.

Crafts and More

Maysville Extension Homemakers Club is sponsoring a "Crafts & More" event Nov. 1 at the Maysville Community Building. Vendors may rent a booth to sell items for only $10. To reserve a booth, call 479 291 4520.

Pickin' Time on 59

Pickin' Time on 59, featuring antiques, collectibles, garage and yard sale items and some business promotions, is set for Oct. 9, 10 and 11. The event route will be from the Siloam Springs Airport, on Arkansas Highway 59 just north of U.S. Highway 412, north through Gentry, Decatur, Gravette and Sulphur Springs. The city of Gentry waives its yard and garage sale permit requirements during the three-day event. Those who would like to set up a booth in Gentry may contact Bev Saunders at 479-736-2358 to reserve a space.

Benefit Poker Run

A poker run fundraiser to benefit the Gravette Public Library will be held Saturday, Oct. 11. Motorcycle riders should meet at 9 a.m. at the library, 407 Charlotte St. S.E., in Gravette. Funds raised will go into the building fund for a new public library. Cost will be $25 for each rider and $10 for an extra rider. The route will be down Arkansas Highway 59 to the Lincoln Library, then across U.S. Highway 412 and on to the Pea Ridge Library, then to the Bella Vista Library and back to Gravette.

Sulphur Springs Library

The Sulphur Springs Public Library, located at 512 Black Street, is now open on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 3 to 5 p.m. with volunteer help. Library membership cards for an individual may be purchased for $2 and a family card is $5. Phone 479-298-3753 for further information.

Gravette Library Gala

The second annual Gravette Public Library fund-raising gala will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 16, at the Cedaridge Event Center, 10889 Highway 72 W., in Bentonville. The event will feature a catered dinner, casino games, silent auction and a DJ. Dress is business/casual. Tickets are available for $25 per person or $160 for a table of eight and may be purchased at the Gravette library, Arvest Bank - Gravette and the Bank of Gravett or from any library commission member. Men's Fellowship

First Baptist Church of Gentry has a monthly men's fellowship gathering at 8 a.m. on the third Saturday of each month. All men are welcome to come for food and fellowship. Guests are welcome. For more information, contact Madden Waits at 736-5009.

Mason Valley Baptist

Singing Services

Monthly singing services at Mason Valley Baptist Church Activity Center are held at 7 p.m. the second Friday of each month. The church is located on Arkansas Highway 12 midway between Highfill and Vaughn.

Church Singing

Mount Zion Missionary Baptist in Sulphur Springs holds a singing service every fourth Saturday of the month, starting at 6:30 p.m. A potluck dinner follows. For more information, call Jheri Roberts, the pastor, at 752-7082.

Gravette Lions Club

Gravette Lions Club meets at 1 p.m. on the first Tuesday of every month and at 6 p.m. on the third Tuesday of every month at the Billy V. Hall Wellness and Activity Center on Limekiln Road in Gravette. Coffee and cookies are served at the evening meeting. New members are welcome.

Gentry History Book

Stories and old photos are being sought from Gentry residents, past and present, for the new Gentry 120-year history book being prepared for publication. Stories about individuals, families and businesses are being sought. Suggested length is 300 words and the name of the submitter should be included at the end of each story. Items may be sent to Gentry History Book, P.O. Box 642, Gentry, AR 72734. Deadline for submissions is Nov. 1. The Gentry history books may be pre-ordered for $65 using the form included on the Gentry Chamber of Commerce website.

Gravette Kiwanis

The Gravette Kiwanis Club holds breakfast meetings at 7 a.m. each Friday at the cafeteria in Ozarks Community Hospital. Guests are welcome.

Gentry Lions Club

Gentry Lions Club meets at 6:30 p.m. on the second and fourth Monday of each month in the McKee Community Room, in the Gentry Public Library, on Main Street at N. Collins Ave. New members and visitors are welcome.

Gravette Legion

Gravette American Legion Post 25 meets at 7 p.m. the third Tuesday of each month at the Civic Center. All veterans are encouraged to attend.

Singing Services

Monthly singing services at Falling Springs Church are held at 7 p.m., the first Friday of each month. The church is located northwest of Gentry and west of Decatur on Falling Springs Road.

Decatur VFW Meetings

VFW Post 9834 meets at 7:30 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month. New members and guests are welcome. The facility is three miles east of Decatur Arkansas Highway 102 and right on Tilly's Hill Road.
