Rains dampen fall festival

GENTRY -- Though it rained and drizzled all the way up to the starting time for Sunday's fall festival, a break in the wet weather allowed the event to be held and many braved the soggy conditions and enjoyed the afternoon festival on Sunday.

John Henry and Friends filled the park with the sounds of bluegrass music and, later, Amazing Grace with their gospel melodies.

Though the contestants might have been fewer, the mutton bustin' competition still brought thrills to riders and spectators alike.

Many youngsters enjoyed the rides, games, wall climbing and pumpkin painting.

Because of the soggy grass, the car show entries lined up along Main Street. And the numbers were down because of the weather.

A cruise night and burn-out were held Saturday night in the rain, but the event still enjoyed a good attendance.
