GRAVETTE -- Brooklyn Carte of Sulphur Springs, Samantha Maberry of Bella Vista, Ethan Knox of Sulphur Springs, Caidence Carrell of Gravette, Joshua Lunsford of Gravette and Jacob Worley of Bella Vista were chosen as Glenn Duffy Elementary PAWS ("Pawsitive" and Wise Students) Students of the Month for October. They all received PAWS T-shirts sponsored by the Glenn Duffy Elementary PTO.

The PAWS Program incorporates character education and positive behavior into the school community. Each month PAWS skills are chosen and discussed in classroom guidance in relation to character education. Self-control is the word for this month. This is defined as showing restraint over your impulses, emotions and desires. Children were asked to show self-control by deciding to do important things first and to help others before they help themselves.

"In line with the Super Hero theme we have this year, Batman is credited with saying, 'It's not who we are underneath, but what we DO that defines us!," said Zane Vanderpool, Glenn Duffy Elementary principal.

PAWS awards are given in the classroom, hallway and cafeteria as an incentive for students to practice the PAWS skill for the month. Students are recognized at monthly Rise and Shine assemblies.
