Woman cited for shoplifting now also faces drug charges

GENTRY -- An Oct. 9 report of shoplifting a candy bar at the EZ-Mart store on West Main Street in Gentry led to drug charges as well.

According to police reports, Katherine Mitchell, 27, of Gentry, was charged with shoplifting from the EZ-Mart store on Oct. 6 and Oct. 9, but when police did a consent search of her purse on Oct. 9, they found a brass smoking pipe with residue and a green substance which Mitchell identified as K2. An inventory of her car prior to releasing it to a friend led to the discovery of a bottle of pills which police identified as diazepam and alprazolam.

As a result, Mitchell faces not only shoplifting charges for taking a candy bar, and a DVD on an earlier date, but drug charges as well -- possession of drug paraphernalia and two charges of possessing a controlled substance.

She was also given a trespass warning and told she was no longer permitted on EZ-Mart property located at 801 W. Main St., Gentry, the report states.
