Change is good for the world, just not for my world

It is a pleasure to go out the back door and face a day of mid-70's weather and the grass is still green and growing. A feller that has that is a man with much. I know we have days ahead that will not be as nice, or as warm, or as easy to stand, but today was a good one!

My close relative decided to invite her benevolent society ladies to our house for a tea party or some sort of get together. I was invited to vacate the joint and not very nicely, either.

The ladies are all from families I know and respect, count as friends, but when the female gender gathers, I know it is dangerous for me to be within a mile of the meeting! The subject of discussion is supposed to be associated with kindness and Christian love, but sometimes they run a few rabbits!

I had plenty to take care of and the offspring needed me to boss some of their projects. I suppose they didn't need me, but I felt the need so I went to interfere. They were cleaning out the covered working area and insisting we needed a Bobcat for the work. I am here to tell you they were doing a very good job with shovels!

I like to see good, or for that matter, sorry cattle grazing on grass that is green and growing. I rolled around the county sightseeing for a couple of hours after lunch at the coffee emporium. I ate bacon and eggs, biscuits and gravy twice today. The country is busy getting ready for more families to have homes and less room for farms.

The future is here in our area. The old homestead places are dozed, streets are paved and lots sold. It isn't but a breath until new houses are sprouting and, before you can blink twice, the families are moved in and there is a swing set in the back yard. I am amazed at the sudden progress, the absolute density of population and the explosion of folks moving into our little back water world. This was a one-horse area and that horse was a mule with one good eye and an attitude when we came.

The county is pretty good sized and we still have room to roam and hunt and be alone in the outdoors. I am eternally thankful for that so our Grands can have that peace in their souls. It is a necessary place, the peace-giving place, so a person's head can be emptied and lungs filled with fresh air that has not been inhaled and exhaled a couple of times before!

It is my opinion, and everyone has one, change is good for the world -- not my world, but the world as a whole. I abhor change in my tiny little circle of life, but I am so glad it changed before I was grown from horse and buggy to air -conditioned pickups. Now that I feel it is perfect, I do not want any change. But you can bet the next generation does! Time marches on!

I wonder what will become of the beef industry in the next 50 years. I wonder but I won't worry about it!
