Hiwasse plans annual fall festival Sept. 20

HIWASSE -- The annual Hiwasse Fall Festival will be held Saturday, Sept. 20, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Hiwasse Fire Station, 13860 Fire House Lane. This event was very successful last year and many in the community are working to make this year's festival even bigger and better.

Attractions for all ages will be provided. There will be music, inflatables and games to play. Hamburger meals featuring hamburgers, chips and a drink will be sold for $5 with proceeds benefiting the Hiwasse Community Room. Free snow cones, cookies, cotton candy and bottled water will be available. Local crafts and fresh veggies will also be sold.

A chili cookoff will also be held as a feature of this year's event. Area cooks are invited to enter a pot of chili. Folks attending the festival will be able to vote for their favorite Hiwasse pot of chili. To enter chili or reserve a spot for local crafts/fresh veggies call 479-721-2143. Booths must be set up by 10:30 a.m.
