GRAVETTE -- The Lady Lions were defeated Thursday on the homecourt by the visiting Lady Tigers from Prairie Grove.

In back and forth sets, Prairie Grove always seemed to garner the points when needed to finish ahead -- 25-23, 25-16 and 25-19.

"The girls played really hard tonight against Prairie Grove," said Gravette coach Robin Cannon. "Prairie Grove has a really strong athletic team," she added.

"I was not too disappointed in our performance over all. We did a lot of good things that we have been working on and we played with a lot of effort. It was not a lack of effort, but a lack of execution at critical times. I think we will continue to improve through the season as we get experience," Cannon said.

The Lady Lions hosted Pea Ridge on Tuesday (after press time) and will travel to Berryville on Thursday. Games begin at 4:30 p.m., with the varsity girls playing after junior high and junior varsity teams.
