Fall Festival set Saturday in Hiwasse

HIWASSE -- Folks in the Hiwasse community are busy preparing a full slate of activities for this Saturday's annual Hiwasse Fall Festival. It promises to be a fun day for persons of all ages with lots of good food, musical entertainment, games and door prizes for those attending. Events will begin at 11 a.m. at the Hiwasse fire station, 13860 Fire House Lane, and continue until 2 p.m.

Bank of Gravett will be selling dinners including hamburgers, chips and a drink for $5 with proceeds benefiting the Hiwasse Community Room. Free snow cones, cookies, cotton candy and bottled water will be available. Booths will be set up selling fresh fruits and vegetables, baked goods, garden seeds and crafts. They should be in place by 10:30 a.m.

Six chili cooks have entered the chili cookoff and persons may taste the chili for $2 a sample. Tasting time will be from 12 noon to 1 p.m. and everyone is invited to come and vote for their favorite pot of Hiwasse chili.

Free inflatables will be available for the youngsters to play on and Randy Steele will provide musical entertainment for the enjoyment of all. Door prizes will be provided by local merchants and drawings will be held throughout the day. Persons must purchase a dinner to participate in the drawings.

Photographers from Studio K will be on hand to take family fall photos for anyone interested and members of the GHS Art Club will be doing face painting.

Patti Bertschy, one of the event organizers, invites everyone to "bring your lawn chair and have a wonderful fall day."
