Gentry's fall music festival set for afternoon of Oct. 12 in city park

GENTRY -- The Gentry Fall Music Festival is set for 12 noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 12, in the Gentry City Park.

The event, sponsored by the Gentry United Way and Gentry Chamber of Commerce, will feature live music, including three area bands and varieties of music. The afternoon will begin with a bluegrass band, John Henry and Friends. The band will be on stage performing from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. It will be followed by a gospel band, Amazing Grace, from 2 to 3:15 p.m. The gospel band features Gentry's own Alan Lamb.

For those who wish to step it up, the ShotGunBillys will be back on stage in Gentry from 3:30 to 5 p.m. with its version of country and rock. The ShotGunBillys performed in Gentry at the July 4 Freedom Festival.

The afternoon includes mutton bustin' at 2 p.m. Contact Heidi Nance at 479-233-0868 for information -- only the first 30 applicants will be accepted, and riders must be under 60 pounds.

An afternoon car show, sponsored by the Gentry Volunteer Fire Department, is planned. Call 479-736-9976 for more information on the car show.

And there will be activities for the children, including pumpkin painting and inflatable rides.

As always, the event promises plenty of festival food, fun and games.
