GRAVETTE -- The Lady Lions were defeated by the Shiloh Christian Lady Saints in Springdale Thursday in three sets: 15-25, 14-25 and 15-25.

The Gravette girls played a strong game but were not able to prevent Shiloh's strong offense from blocking shots and answering Gravette volleys with strong kill shots.

Amanda Pinter, junior middle hitter, led the Lady Lions with four kills and two blocks on Thursday.

The situation was different when Gravette faced Huntsville earlier in the week. The Lady Lions defeated Huntsville in a 4A Northwest Conference match, 3-1.

Huntsville took the first set, 25-13; but Gravette responded by taking the next three sets -- 25-22, 25-22 and 25-19.

DaMayla Cowen led the team with eight kills. Shannon McKnight added six kills and also led the team with 10 digs.

Overall record for the Lady Lions stood at 2-4 before Tuesday's game against Gentry (after press time).
