HIWASSE -- The third annual Hiwasse Fall Festival was held Saturday, Sept. 20, and the weather was perfect for the event.

The Bank of Gravett sold hamburgers, with proceeds going to maintain the Hiwasse Community Building.

Activities included a cake walk, jumping in the inflatable rides, enjoying snack foods and just sitting under the trees visiting with friends and neighbors. Local churches gave away treats, Town and Country 4-H members helped with the booths, and area vendors sold fresh produce, baked items and crafts.

Music for the day was provided by Randy Steele. The Billy V. Hall Senior Center sold yummy treats and family and friends fall photos were taken by Kay Murray. The GHS Art Club painted young and old faces with delightful art.

This was the first year for the chili cook-off. There were four entries. Each entry was delicious and it was a close competition, but Larry Weihe's Root'N Toot'N Chili took the prize.

The committee would like to thank all of the sponsors for making this community event possible. Each year the attendance gets larger and we hope to make this a "memory maker" for years to come.
