Area Easter events planned

WESTSIDE -- In addition to regular church services, a number of special events are scheduled for this weekend in the Eagle Observer service area.

Gravette

In Gravette, an Easter sunrise service is planned. Heritage Baptist Church is hosting the annual sunrise service on Sunday, April 5. The service will begin at 7 a.m. and conclude by 8:30 a.m. It will include a mixture of music from area churches and a message from God's Word to close the service. Those interested in participating in the service are asked to contact the church at 479-787-6782. Heritage Baptist Church is located at 308 4th Ave., in Gravette.

Ozarks Community Hospital is partnering with Harvest Baptist Church to host the annual community Easter egg hunt, scheduled for Saturday, April 4, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the OCH Gravette Clinic. The event will be held rain or shine. Four designated hunting areas will be open for children up to 10 years of age. The youngest age group will begin hunting eggs at 10:30, with additional age groups following. There will be thousands of candy-filled eggs to hunt, as well as the chance to win larger prizes and a grand prize. Participants should bring their own baskets. In addition to the egg hunt, the kids will be able to tour the Gravette Fire Department's emergency vehicles; and there will be face painting, egg decorating, field games, arts and crafts, a petting zoo, and a photo opportunity with the Easter bunny. Guests are encouraged to bring their own cameras.

Also, Church on the Hill is hosting an Easter egg hunt at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 4, in Old Town Park for children up to 6th graders. They invite area youngsters to come out for an afternoon of "good fellowship and fun activities."

Decatur

In Decatur, an "Easter Egg Hunt Eggstravaganza" is planned at Decatur Assembly of God Church on Saturday, April 4, at 1 p.m. There will be five hunting areas for children, ages 0-12, including a designated hunting area for children with special needs. There will be thousands of candy-filled eggs to hunt. Hundreds of prizes, including grand prizes, will be given away in each age division. The event will take place on the grounds of DAG Church, located at 733 N. Main St. in Decatur.

Gentry

In Gentry, the Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring its annual Easter egg hunt in the city park at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 4. The event will include prizes for all and bicycles, provided by local businesses, for a winner in each age category.

Also, First Assembly of God in Gentry will be hosting an Easter Egg Hunt at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 4. All children will receive a door prize. There will also be prizes for three age groups between 0 and 11. The church is located at 821 East Main Street, just east of the Dollar General store in Gentry.

Highfill

The Highfill Community Easter Egg Hunt is set for 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 4, in the Highfill City Park.
