Decatur loses season opener

DECATUR -- It was a rough start to the 2015 Decatur High School baseball season, thanks to an abundance of rain and poor field conditions.

The Bulldog team was at a serious disadvantage, with rain allowing only two practices on their field at Edmiston Park when the team traveled south to take on the Union Christian Eagles in Fort Smith March 30. The Eagles made easy work of the game, winning 10 to 0.

"We were able to get two walks, but that was as far as we went," Porter said. "Hopefully, we can get the field dry enough to hold a series of intense practice sessions."

The Bulldogs will travel to Coal Hill to take on the Johnson County Westside Rebels April 9, and to Magazine April 13, to take on the Leftwich Rattlers. Game time is 4 p.m.
