GRAVETTE -- The Lions made short work of the Berryville Bobcats on Thursday, scoring 11 runs in the six-inning game and holding Berryville to a single run in the team's last at bat.

Gravette started things off in the bottom of the second when Mathew Stelting hit a hard ground ball to left field and made it to second, Brady Rolsma was hit by a pitch and Jace Russ singled with a grounder to third, drawing an error and allowing Stelting and Rolsma to make it home. Then Derek Pruitt reached first on an error, allowing Russ to score. Pruitt scored on a Luke Summerford grounder to third.

A Summerford ground-ball single to left also pushed Bryce Moorman around the bases and home after Moorman singled to right in the fourth.

Gravette increased its lead to 9-0 in the bottom of the fifth when Rolsma stole home and Moorman hit a line-drive double to left, driving in Pruitt. Both Rolsma and Pruitt had walked. Then Jackson Soule' homered to left, bringing in Moorman.

Berryville scored its only run in the top of the sixth when a player who singled to right moved around the bases and managed to steal home. But Gravette responded with two more in the bottom of the inning when Summerford, who had been hit by a pitch, scored on a passed ball, and Cody Fields scored on a third baseman's error.

Soule' and Summerford each picked up two RBIs in the game. Moorman had two hits and an RBI for the Lions.

Cody Fields was on the mound for the Lions, throwing 89 pitches in six innings and striking out seven. He walked two.

Gravette had only four hits in the game.

The mound was shared by Kyler Bunch, Avery Borrow and Trey Nunnally, with the loss credited to Bunch. Gravette pitchers allowed nine hits, including two home runs during the short game.
