Bulldog baseball loses road game, first home game

DECATUR -- The Decatur Bulldog baseball team continues its losing streak falling to both Magazine Leftwich and Hackett Hornets in two separate contest.

The Bulldogs traveled south to take on the Leftwich Rattlers at Magazine April 13. The Bulldogs struggled both offensively and defensively through the game. Leftwich managed to walk all over the Decatur outfield as they scored 10 runs throughout the game. Decatur failed to score although they managed to get to walks but could not bring the runners home. The final score was 16 to 2.

The same is true for the first home game at Edmiston Field April 16 when the Hackett Hornets traveled north to Decatur. Pitching for the Bulldogs was Jay Porter. Porter pitched well from mound as the Hornets managed 9 hits before Porter was relieved by Jesse Bruce. in the fifth inning. Simple mistakes and missed opportunities cost Decatur the game as Hackett defeated the Bulldogs the 10 to o.

Missed throws, dropped balls, and second baseman missing the base all contributed to the Bulldogs poor performance at home.

The next home game will be April 23 against Hartford at Edmiston Park ball field in Decatur. Game time is 4 p.m.
