Farmers' Market Info

A farmers' market meeting will be held at 6 p.m., Monday, April 27, at Gentry City Hall. This will be an information and introduction session. All farmers who may be interested in selling at the farmers' market and those interested in participating in a governing board are encouraged to attend.

Earth Day at Eagle Watch

Earth Day at the Eagle Watch Nature Area is set for this Saturday, April 25. Work in the pollinator flower beds will begin at 9 a.m. Presentations on wildlife and pollinators by Arkansas Game and Fish, the University of Arkansas and Lynn Sciumbato and the Morning Star Wildlife Rehabilitation Center will begin at 10:30 a.m. All are welcome and invited to join in the work and in the educational presentations.

Spring Play

Gentry High School will present its 2015 spring play, "Radio Suspense Theatre," at 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 30, in the high school auditorium. Admission is $4 for adults and $2 for students with identification.

Buddy Day

Buddy Day at Glenn Duffy Elementary is set for May 15. The field day event consists of outside cooperative games (weather permitting). Select students from other campuses will be working the game stations or helping to chaperone students from one station to the next. Donations for individually-wrapped snacks, juice boxes and sunscreen (SPF 30+) will gladly be accepted to help with this fun and exciting day. Old Timers' Day

Old Timers' Day is set for May 2 in downtown Southwest City, Mo. The day will start off at 7 a.m. with a pancake breakfast sponsored by the SWC Fire Department, followed by a 5K and one-mile fun run at 8, entertainment begins at 10:30 a.m., a parade is at 12:30 p.m., outhouse races, games and more follow at 1 p.m. The Old Timers' Day Rodeo will begin at 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, May 1 and 2. Gospel Jamboree

The second annual Lahoma Kay Roberts Memorial Gospel Singing Jamboree is set for Saturday, April 25, at Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Sulphur Springs. A meal begins at 3:30 p.m., and singing at 5 p.m. Gospel singing will be performed by singers and groups from the four-state area in an open microphone format. Cherokee singers and groups will also perform songs in the Cherokee language in addition to traditional songs sung in English. Hog meat, brown beans, fry bread and potato wedges will be provided for the meal. Side dishes are welcome and invited to go with the meal. Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church is located at 23050 Mt. Cemetery Work Day

The semiannual work day at Bethel Cemetery, south of Gravette, will be held Saturday, May 2, beginning at 9 a.m. All persons interested in upkeep of the cemetery are urged to attend. Bring tools to work with and snacks to share. In case of rain, the work day will be postponed until Saturday, May 9.

Kids Fair and Health Expo

The Siloam Springs Regional Hospital ER Kids Fair and Health Expo will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 2, on the SSRH campus -- 603 N. Progress Ave., Siloam Springs. The event is free and open to people of all ages. It will include educational attractions such as the fire safety house, a Teddy Bear Clinic in the SSRH emergency room, emergency vehicles, including a helicopter that visitors may tour, a fingerprinting station from Siloam Springs Police Department and many vendors from all over the state and from Oklahoma. Great Lego Build-off

Imagine Before and After School Care will host its third annual Great Lego Build-off on Saturday, May 9, from 4 to 6 p.m. for Lego enthusiasts of all ages (7 to 107 plus). No kits are allowed. Creation must be the builder's own. Bring a best creation and enter the Build-off contest. All participants will receive a certificate. Prizes will be awarded to the winners. Enrollment Packets

Glenn Duffy Elementary's ABCSS pre-kindergarten program (4-year-olds) and kindergarten enrollment packets are available at school and online -- 601 El Paso Street, S.E., Gravette, 479-787-4120, or gde.gravetteschools.net and look under the Parents tab for enrollment packets. Children must live in the Gravette School District. Pre-K children must be 4 years of age on or before Aug. 1, 2015. Kindergarten children must be 5 years of age on or before Aug. 1.

Decatur Enrollment

Decatur Northside Elementary School will be holding kindergarten and pre-kindergarten registration on April 29 and April 30. Registration will be from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the school office, located at 9083 Mount Olive Road in Decatur. Pre-K slots are based on income need for children ages 3-4. Due to a grant, the school expects to have 20 additional Pre-K slots. To be eligible to enroll in kindergarten, students must turn 5 before Aug. 1. Proof of residence, shot records, birth certificates, Social Security numbers and a physical for children are required. Registration packets may be picked up before April 29. Highfill Food Pantry

The Highfill United Methodist food pantry will be open from 6 to 8 p.m. on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month. For more information, call the church at 479-736-1275.

Go7 Food Program

The Go7 food program's next free food giveaway will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 25, at the Gravette Civic Center (Boys and Girls Club building) on Charlotte St., S.E. The program is open to the public and requires no proof of income. Bags may be brought. The food program will continue on the last Saturday of each month at the same time and location.

Farmers' Market

Coupon Signup

A representative from the Area Agency on Aging will be at the Billy V. Hall Senior Activity and Wellness Center, located at 1870 Limekiln Rd. in Gravette, on Thursday, May 21, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., to sign up seniors to receive coupons that can be used to purchase fruits, vegetables, herbs and honey from local farmers' markets. A photo identification and proof of household income are needed to sign up. Coupon recipients must be 60 or older and meet monthly income guidelines -- one person, $1,815; family of two, $2,456; family of three, $3,098; family of four, $3,739; add $642 for each additional member. Each household will be issued one coupon book for the program year. Coupons are good through Oct. 31. For more information, call 787-5950. Farmers' Market

The Gravette Farmers' Market is now open and will operate on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Old Town Park, 110 Park Drive, in Gravette. It will feature locally-grown produce, flowers, meats and more.

Gravette Lions Club

Gravette Lions Club meets at 12 noon on the first and the third Tuesday of every month at the In-Zone Restaurant on Hwy. 59 N. New members are welcome.

Gravette Kiwanis

The Gravette Kiwanis Club holds breakfast meetings at 7 a.m. each Friday at the cafeteria in Ozarks Community Hospital. Guests are welcome.

Gentry Lions Club

Gentry Lions Club meets at 6:30 p.m. on the second and fourth Monday of each month in the McKee Community Room, in the Gentry Public Library, on Main Street at N. Collins Ave. New members and visitors are welcome.

Gravette Legion

Gravette American Legion Post 25 meets at 7 p.m. the third Tuesday of the month at the Civic Center. All veterans are encouraged to attend.

Singing Services

Monthly singing services at Mason Valley Baptist Church Activity Center are held at 7 p.m. the second Friday of each month. The church is located on Arkansas Hwy. 12, between Highfill and Vaughn. Everyone is invited.

Monthly singing services at Falling Springs Church are held at 7 p.m., the first Friday of each month. The church is located northwest of Gentry and west of Decatur on Falling Springs Road.

Decatur VFW Meetings

VFW Post 9834 meets at 7:30 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month. New members and guests are welcome. The facility is three miles east of Decatur on Arkansas Highway 102 and right on Tilly's Hill Road.
