Lady Lions win big against Huntsville

GRAVETTE -- The Lady Lions secured a huge win against Huntsville on April 14, with Lindsee LaBrecque leading her teammates with her bat and on the mound.

LaBrecque had four hits and five RBIs in the game. Two of her hits were doubles.

On the mound, LaBrecque threw 101 pitches, struck out four and walked two.

A first-inning single by Emily Miller brought home Brittany Crawley to put Gravette on the board. After Huntsville answered with two runs in the bottom of the inning, the Lady Lions tied things up again in the second when LaBrecque singled and drove in Destiny Laymon, who made it on by bunting to third.

The Gravette girls increased their runs to seven in the top of the fourth after Jacklyn Farmer and Laymon walked, Jessica Crawley doubled on a hard-hit ground ball to left, bringing in Farmer, and LaBrecque singled on a ground ball to right, bringing in Laymon and Jessica Crawley. Brittany Crawley, courtesy runner for LeBrecque, and Jaki Chalk also scored in the inning when Miller grounded out to third and Sierra Lemonds singled to center.

The Lady Lions added another two in the fifth and one in the seventh, to secure the win, 10-4. Gravette had 13 hits in the game, with half of their runs counting in the earned column.

In addition to LaBrecque's four hits, Jaye Chalk, Emily Miller, Sierra Lemonds and Destiny Laymon each had two. Jessica Crawley had one.

The game, originally scheduled to be played in Huntsville on April 13, was played in Gravette on April 14.
