Gentry brings home medals in 7A meet

GENTRY -- The track and field teams from Gentry brought home another gold and team ninth- and 11th-place finishes in the McDonald Relays, hosted by Southside High School in Ft. Smith on Friday. The meet pitted Gentry athletes against athletes from the big 7A schools in the area.

Zach Ellis brought home a gold in the discus throw with a distance of 139 feet, 11 inches. Cole Cripps finished third in the pole vault, clearing the bar at 13 feet. Chastery Fuamatu took second in the girls' shot put, with a throw of 34 feet, 1.5 inches. Mallory Morris captured the bronze in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:27.87. The girls' relay team also finished in third in the 4x800 event at 10:43.13.

The track team was to compete at the 4A district meet in Pea Ridge on Tuesday, after press time.
