Maysville Food Pantry

CARE Satellite Pantry, in partnership with the Maysville Bible Church, is operating a food pantry at the church on the first Saturday of each month. Food is available for those in northwest Arkansas, northeast Oklahoma and southwest Missouri. A state or federal photo identification, Social Security cards or ITINs for all family members, proof of residency (utility bill, lease agreement, rent receipt, etc.) and proof of previous month's income (check stubs, child support, Social Security, disability, food stamps) is required. The next food pantry date will be Saturday, Sept. 5, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. Future food pantry dates will be on Oct. 7, Nov. 3 and Dec. 5. HOSA Showcase Cabinet

Donations are still being sought to help construct a HOSA showcase cabinet at Gravette High School to honor Angela Scott, who taught health occupation students at GHS for 19 years until her death July 8, 2014, in a car accident. $2,500 is still needed to reach the goal of $4,000. When $4,000 is raised, the school will match the amount to complete the project. Those who wish to contribute may donate to the HOSA cabinet account at Arvest Bank. Book Signing

Local author Marilynn Reicks will be on hand at the Gentry Public Library from 2 to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 18, to sign copies of her new book, "Forever Faithful," a romance novel with a true-to-the-times setting in a northeast Iowa farming community during the Word War II years. Reicks grew up in northeast Iowa and was a school teacher there. She continued teaching when she moved to Arkansas and is a regular volunteer at the Gentry Public Library. OCH Open House

Ozarks Community Hospital in Gravette will host an open house from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24. Tours will be given of the hospital, including the new, updated radiology equipment, the remodeled therapy department, the intensive outpatient program called "Living Well Holistic Center" and the rest of the hospital grounds. The Dr. Hall Memorial Garden should be completed by that time and lanterns will be lit at the end of the evening honoring those who know someone or have lost someone with Alzheimer's.

Soccer Camp

A GYO "Day with the Champs" soccer camp, hosted by the championship Gentry High School girls' soccer team and Coach Fabrizio Campagnola, will be held at Gentry High School on Saturday, Aug. 8, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. for children, 5-12 years of age. Cost for the camp is $30. Registration forms are available at the Gentry Early Learning Academy and from Brooke Holt at 479-644-7199.

Gentry Band Activities

The Gentry High School band is warming up, with the following special event under way: Aug. 3 through 7 and Aug. 10 through 13 -- from 3 to 6 p.m., Gentry Band summer practice in the band room.

Class of '70 Reunion

The Gravette High School class of 1970 will hold its 45th reunion on Aug. 8, at 6 p.m., at 10261 Little Spavinaw Rd., Gravette. All class members and spouses are urged to attend. Gentry Class Reunion

The Gentry High School Class of 1975 is inviting classmates and friends (upper and lower classmates) of the class to a reunion and dinner at 2 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 8, at the Springtown Church of Christ fellowship hall (just off Arkansas Highway 12 in Springtown). A potluck dinner will be served at 4:30 p.m. Chicken and drinks will be provided. Those attending are asked to bring a side dish, salad or dessert. Gentry VBS

Gentry First Assembly of God, at 821 East Main Street (just east of the Dollar General store), will hold its vacation Bible school from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, Aug. 10-14. The Bible school, for children, 4-12 years of age, will have as its theme: "GodZone -- Faith Under Construction." All are welcome.

Go7 Food Program

The Go7 food program's free food giveaway is being discontinued until the fall because of a lack of workers to help with the program. Announcement will be made when the program resumes again.

Library Commission

The Gravette Public Library Commission has openings for two new commissioners. The commission is seeking members who have interest in seeing the library grow and promoting its programs. They should live in the Gravette or Hiwasse area. If interested, visit the library at 407 Charlotte St., S.E., for a volunteer application and to submit a resume. 25-Year Reunion

The Gravette High School Class of 1990's 25-year reunion will be held Gravette Day weekend. A casual get-together for classmates, graduates, spouses and friends will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7, at Fire Station 29 Pub and Grill on Main Street in Gravette. The class will have a float in the Gravette Day parade on Saturday, Aug. 8. Wagapalooza in Gentry

On Aug. 8, Tailwaggers will host Wagapalooza in Gentry. The event will include a barbecue cook-off, pie-eating contest, ugliest dog and dog that looks like its owner contest. The event will feature prizes from local nonprofits, clubs and businesses and more, including adoptable dogs and a dog play area. Tailwaggers will be selling armbands for tasting barbecue and for inflatables and other activities. Regional Transit Rides

The city of Gravette has partnered with Ozark Regional Transit for the purpose of an "on demand" service agreement to serve the city's citizens. The fare will be $2.50 per destination and service hours are 6 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Gentry Summer Reading

Gentry Public Library's 2015 summer reading program, "Every Hero Has A Story," will run through July 30. Children, 6 and under with a current library membership, may register for programs on Tuesdays from 10 to 11 a.m.; and children, 7 and above, may register for programs on Thursdays from 10 to 11 a.m. Participants receive a logbook to record titles of books read this summer. The library has offered a variety of programs each week. The final program on the summer calendar will involve hero dress-up days on July 28 and 30.

Highfill Food Pantry

The Highfill United Methodist food pantry will be open from 6 to 8 p.m. on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month. For more information, call the church at 479-736-1275.

Farmers' Market

The Gravette Farmers' Market is open on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Old Town Park, 110 Park Drive, in Gravette. It features locally-grown produce, flowers, meats and more.

Gentry Farmers' Market

Gentry's farmers' market is held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the Main Street Pavilion located next door to the Chicken Coop flea market, at 500 E. Main Street, Gentry. For more information on the market, call 479-871-1052. Farmers may register for space and sell there on those days without charge.

Lions Club

Gravette Lions Club meets at 12 noon on the first and the third Tuesday of every month at the In-Zone Restaurant on Arkansas Hwy. 59 N. in Gravette. The Gentry Lions Club meets at 6:30 p.m. on the fourth Monday of the month at the McKee Community Room in Gentry Public Library. New members are welcome and invited.

Gravette Kiwanis

The Gravette Kiwanis Club holds breakfast meetings at 7 a.m. each Friday at the cafeteria in Ozarks Community Hospital. Guests are welcome.

Gravette Legion

Gravette American Legion Post 25 meets at 7 p.m. the third Tuesday of the month at the Civic Center. All veterans are encouraged to attend.

Singing Services

Monthly singing services at Mason Valley Baptist Church Activity Center are held at 7 p.m. the second Friday of each month. The church is located on Arkansas Hwy. 12, between Highfill and Vaughn. Everyone is invited.

Decatur VFW Meetings

VFW Post 9834 meets at 7:30 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month. New members and guests are welcome. The facility is three miles east of Decatur on Arkansas Highway 102 and right on Tilly's Hill Road.
