The Sonshine Quartet, a popular quartet which began in Gravette in 1974, is scheduled to perform on the main stage in Kindley Park at 1:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon, Gravette Day.

Four teenage boys, brothers Don (Bubba) and Lee Donell, Steve Tucker and Bruce Wilbanks, formed the quartet when they were members of the choir in high school. They began singing in local churches, accompanied on the piano by Pat Price. Two years later, Jon Pickup became their piano player and fill-in singer when needed.

The group recorded an album, "To Jesus With Love," and toured throughout Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas. They bonded as fellow singers and spiritual brothers and, though separated geographically the last several years, they continued to maintain close ties.

The quartet held a hugely successful reunion concert March 26 of this year at the Gravette High School Performing Arts Center. At about the same time they released a new album, "Sonshine Quartet Reunion 2015," with 14 songs from their performing history. Long-time fans and new fans who heard them for the first time at this spring's concert will want to come out and enjoy their show Saturday.
