— Winds and heavy rains passed through Gentry Wednesday morning, and a fallen tree limb brought down power and cable lines on Brooke Lynn Drive, contributing to a loss of power for a large section of the city.

The power outage forced numerous restaurants and businesses to be closed over the noon hour. Power was about to be restored at 1 p.m. The tree limb had been removed, lines repaired and breakers were being reset, according to Vester Cripps, Gentry's fire chief.

Winds from the storm uprooted a few trees in the area and knocked down tree branches. Electric company crews were making emergency repairs in a number of locations in the area to restore power.
