The Gravette Historical Museum will host its third annual traditional Dutch oven cook-off on Gravette Day this year. The popular event will be held on Saturday, Aug. 8, with cooking beginning at 10 a.m. Judging will begin at 2 p.m., and a public tasting will be held at 3 p.m.

Again this year there are two divisions, the three-pot division in which entrants will prepare a main dish, a side dish and a dessert, and the novice division in which they will prepare only one dish.

Judging for the three-pot division will be based on originality, presentation, taste, teamwork and creativity. The entry fee is $15 per team. Medals will be given and cash prizes will be awarded, with $150 going to the first-place team, $100 to the second-place team and $50 to the third-place team. There will be an entry fee of $15 per team.

Entrants in the novice division must prepare only one dish. They will be asked to pay an entry fee of $10 per team (two or more). Children, 10 or older, may enter if accompanied by an adult. Medals and prizes will go to the novice division winners in the amounts of $50 for first place, $25 for second place and $10 for third place.

Entrants in both divisions are required to submit recipes for the dishes they will prepare. For a complete list of rules and contest entry forms, contact Patti Bertschy, 479-721-2153 or [email protected], or Stephanie McLeod, 501-454-3039 or [email protected], or stop by the Gravette Historical Museum to pick up entry forms in person.

The museum is celebrating its 20-year anniversary. There will be a model train exhibit at the museum on Gravette Day and several musical groups will be providing entertainment. There will be raffle prizes and free museum admission.
