GRAVETTE -- Every day there are tasks that need to be done to keep the Gravette Historical Museum operational and open to the public at no charge. These include everything from cleaning to exhibit research, development and maintenance, artifact retreival and landscaping. These needs grow every day due to the growth the museum has experienced through its 20 years of existence.

Today the Museum consists of the Historic Kindley Home, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The home is a two-story structure that was fully renovated through a state preservation grant in 2000. The home is approximatley 1,800 square feet and it and its furnishings are a superb example of life in the 1920s.

The Annex is where the Museum stores its static and rotating exhibits, as well as where it hosts special exhibits. It is a single story building of approximately 2,300 square feet. Popular exhibits in the Annex are the senior class photos, the World War I banner containing the names of local war heroes, an exhibit about the Gravette Shelling Plant and items from many local businesses.

There are opportunities for both children and adults to volunteer. Those interested in helping are asked to contact a commission member.

On Gravette Day, the Museum will host the Dutch-oven cook-off and the "Living on the Railroad" model railroading exhibit. All are invited to stop by and visit.
