Gravette Schools letter to parents

Dear Gravette School District Parents,

The Gravette School District will be implementing the "Professional Learning Communities' Initiative" for the 2015-2015 school year. The collaboration time was presented by the district staff and decided on by the Gravette School Board at its regular scheduled meeting in May of 2015.

The collaboration of staff is part of the Professional Learning Communities Initiative that has been implemented in schools across the nation. This initiative allows time for teachers to specifically target students in need of remediation, to work together in planning instruction, observing other's classrooms, sharing feedback and analyzing data from assessments.

To accommodate the implementation of Professional Learning Communities and allow teachers to collaborate once a week, the bell schedule for Gravette School District will be as follows:

All buildings will begin at 8:00 a.m.

• Glenn Duffy Elementary School will dismiss at 3:07, 3:12 p.m. bus pick up Monday -- Thursday. On Fridays students will be dismissed at 2:20, 2:25 p.m. bus pick up.

• Gravette Upper Elementary School will dismiss at 3:12 p.m. Monday -- Thursday and 2:25 p.m. on Fridays.

• Gravette Middle School will dismiss at 3:15 p.m. Monday -- Thursday and 2:30 p.m. on Fridays.

• Gravette High School will dismiss at 3:25 p.m. Monday -- Thursday and 2:45 p.m. on Fridays.

NOTE: The new schedule will result in students arriving at home a few minutes earlier on Fridays than other days of the week.

Thank you and have a great school year!
