Police solve more vandalism cases

GENTRY -- Police in Gentry have solved several more recent cases of vandalism in the city, according to Keith Smith, Gentry police chief.

According to Smith, the police department received reports of vandalism earlier this month, with incidents occurring on or about Aug. 5 or Aug. 6, including spray painting and dumping of park portable restrooms, breaking off a picnic table bench and bending a barbecue grill and a ballfield fowl-ball marker in the park. One of the newly-planted trees in the park was also broken off. In addition, a number of light bulbs in the park were removed and shattered.

Spray painting was reported at an apartment and on a car on West First Street and under the Third Street overpass.

Through a police department investigation, two 18-year-old males from Gentry were questioned and admitted their roles in the vandalism, Smith said.

According to Smith, warrants are being sought for James Groh and Nicholas Childers of Gentry in connection to the recent incidents of vandalism.
