Christmas parade, activities planned in Gentry Dec. 12

GENTRY -- A Country Christmas is the theme of this year's Gentry Christmas Parade, which is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 12, on Gentry's Main Street. Lineup is at 5:30 p.m. at the Nelson Feed Store (north of Main Street at the railroad tracks).

There will be $100 in Gentry bucks awarded to the entries with the best lighting, the best sound and the best theme. The best overall entry (a combination of the three individual categories above) will be awarded $200 in Gentry bucks.

No preregistration or fees are required to enter and participate in the parade. Just be there to line up at 5:30 p.m.

Children will be able to visit with Santa Claus at the Chamber of Commerce building, 212 East Main Street, from 3 to 6 p.m. Parents are urged to bring their cameras for photos with Santa in front of the fireplace. Goodies will be provided for the children. Hot chocolate and coffee will be on hand for all, as well.

Christmas Light Contest

The annual Gentry Christmas Lighting contest is being held this year for both residential and business properties. For residential properties, a first place prize of $100 in Gentry bucks will be awarded and a second place prize of $50 in Gentry bucks will also be given. In the business division, a first place prize of $100 will be given.

Please call the Gentry Chamber of Commerce office and leave your address to be sure your Christmas display is not missed in the judging. Judging will be done sometime the week prior to the annual Christmas parade on Dec. 12.
