DECATUR -- It was a night of fun and games, dancing and good fellowship as Decatur Northside Elementary celebrated it's annual Fall Festival on Nov. 13.

The event was sponsored by the Decatur Parent Teacher Organization as part of a fundraiser to purchase shade trees for the east side play ground.

More than 250 parents, family members and friends from the Decatur area turned out to support the PTO fundraising project.

Tickets were on sale at the main entrance of the school. These tickets allowed children and adults to participate in the many carnival-type games, as well as purchase food and even a chance to go to jail for a few minutes.

A line formed early at the entrance to the jail as Decatur Police Chief Terry Luker and Benton County Sheriff's deputy Robin Holt collected tickets and placed the prisoners into their cells. This was one of the few times that there was a line of people waiting to get into jail.

"We started with a small pencil book to hold the tickets," said Luker. "By the end of the night, we filled a small packing box with tickets."

There was a silent auction at the end of the night that yielded more than $500 for the PTO project.
