Band Concert

Gentry Middle School and High School bands will hold their winter concert at 2 p.m. Sunday in the High School auditorium. The Gentry bands will be joined by the Ozark Mountains British Brass Band, founded in 1995 with the purpose of providing musical entertainment for the northwest Arkansas community using the unique sound of a British-style brass band. One of the goals of the band is to be a role model for young people by demonstrating that music can provide life-long enjoyment.

Bradford Fundraiser

A benefit fundraiser to assist Susan Bradford with medical bills related to her cancer treatment will be held from 5 to 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 19, at Springtown Pentecostal Fellowship Hall. OCH Craft Fair

Ozarks Community Hospital in Gravette is hosting a holiday vendor and craft fair from 3 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 15, in the cafeteria at the hospital. The event is open to outside vendors who offer products and services, but it is also open to OCH employees or family members who own a business or who wish to raise funds for a nonprofit organization or an individual event and are selling holiday crafts and goods. It is just one of several activities planned during the hospital's Holiday Week. Vendors will receive a 3-by-3-foot table space with two chairs and must pay a $5 booth reservation fee. Decatur Lighting Contest

Decatur Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring its annual Christmas lighting contest. Entries for this year's contest will be confined to residents within the Decatur city limits. There will be a $100 prize for the first-place winner. Deadline to enter this year's contest will be Dec. 17. Judging will be Dec. 19. Breakfast with Santa

The Gentry senior high girls' basketball team will be hosting "Breakfast with Santa" on Saturday, Dec. 12, at the Carl Gym on Main Street in Gentry. Cost will be $5 and will include a breakfast of a doughnut and milk, crafts with the girls' basketball team, and a visit with Santa, Mrs. Claus and some of Santa's elves (you may take your own photos). To purchase tickets, please see any of the Gentry senior high Lady Pioneer basketball players, Coach Toby Tevebaugh, Coach Daren Ward or Coach Courtney Millsap, or swing by and purchase one from Holly Hays at Gentry Early Learning Academy.

Quilting Class

A class for area quilters and crafters will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12, at the Church of Christ annex, 202 Irving St. S.W., in Gravette. Instruction will be given on a quilt block and a "show and tell" session will be held. Please bring finished projects or works in progress and a snack to share.

Christmas Singspiration

Pioneer Church of God (Holiness) will be holding a special "Christmas Singspiration" service on Sunday, Dec. 13, at 11 a.m. This will be a special time of musical worship and praise. All in attendance are invited to bring a Christmas song, reading or poem. The church is located just north of the Gentry Police Station, at 104 North Collins. The Pioneer Church of God (Holiness) will be holding a special service to celebrate the birth of Jesus on Dec. 20 at 11 a.m. The children's choir will help prepare hearts for this time of celebration. Christmas Tea

First Baptist Church of Gentry will have its Christmas Tea at 9:30 a.m. on Dec. 12 in the fellowship hall. Tickets are $3 and can be purchased at the door. A Country Christmas

A Country Christmas is the theme of this year's Gentry Christmas Parade, scheduled for 6:30 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 12, on Gentry's Main Street. Children will be able to visit with Santa Claus at the Chamber of Commerce building, 212 East Main Street, from 3 to 6 p.m.

Christmas Eve Service

Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church will hold a Christmas Eve service at 6 p.m. on Dec. 24 to commemorate the birth of Jesus the Christ, in culmination of the Advent season, with scripture and song. All are welcome and invited. The church is located at 301 S. Black Ave. (corner of S. Black and W. Moffitt) in Sulphur Springs.

Basketball Signup

Signup is going on now for a Gravette basketball program for youngsters in kindergarten through third grade, sponsored by Imagine Before and After School Care in Gravette. There will be teams for boys in grades K through first, boys grades second and third, girls in grades K through first and girls grades second and third. All participants will receive a team shirt and season ending participation award. They will be given instruction on fundamentals, basic skills and developing knowledge for the rules of the game. Highfill Food Pantry

The Highfill United Methodist food pantry will be open from 6 to 8 p.m. on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month. For more information, call the church at 479-736-1275.

New Food Pantry

Decatur United Methodist Church has a community food pantry open the first and third Thursday of each month. The only requirement for the pantry is that one live in the 72722 zip code area. An identification and a piece of mail showing one's residence in the Decatur area is required. There is also a USDA Commodity Program available which is income-based. Those wishing to do so can fill out an application to see if they qualify.

Lions Club

Gravette Lions Club meets at noon on the first Tuesday of every month at the In-Zone Restaurant on Arkansas Hwy. 59 N. in Gravette and at 7 p.m. on the third Tuesday of every month at Imagine Before and After School Care, 206 Birmingham St. S.E. The Gentry Lions Club meets at 6:30 p.m. on the fourth Monday of the month at the McKee Community Room in Gentry Public Library. New members are welcome and invited.

Gravette Kiwanis

The Gravette Kiwanis Club holds breakfast meetings at 7 a.m. each Friday at the cafeteria in Ozarks Community Hospital. Guests are welcome.

Gravette Legion

Gravette American Legion Post 25 meets at 7 p.m. the third Tuesday of the month at the Civic Center. All veterans are encouraged to attend.

Singing Services

Monthly singing services at Mason Valley Baptist Church Activity Center are held at 7 p.m. the second Friday of each month. The church is located on Arkansas Hwy. 12, between Highfill and Vaughn. Everyone is invited.

Monthly singing services at Falling Springs Church are held at 7 p.m., the first Friday of each month. The church is located northwest of Gentry and west of Decatur on Falling Springs Road.

Decatur VFW Meetings

VFW Post 9834 meets at 7 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month. New members and guests are welcome.
