— Gentry Public Schools and Decatur Public Schools closed Monday, Feb. 16, due to inclement weather. Gentry, Gravette and Decatur schools will remain closed Tuesday, Feb. 17, due to poor road conditions.

Two to three inches of snow and ice fell overnight, leading to the decision to close area schools. The wintry mix was the first significant snow event of the winter for the area and the first to result in school closings.

Temperatures were expected to remain below freezing on Monday, making it unlikely that roads will be cleared quickly.

Parent-teacher conferences in Gentry will be rescheduled for next Monday and Tuesday, Feb. 23 and 24, according to an email sent out by Randy Barrett, superintendent of Gentry Public Schools. Monday night's school board meeting is also being rescheduled for next Monday night, according to Barrett.

Gravette Schools were scheduled to be closed Monday for Presidents' Day. The Gravette School Board meeting scheduled for Monday night was moved to 7 p.m. next Monday, Feb. 23, as well, according to Tammy Fisher, administrative assistant at Gravette Schools.
