GRAVETTE -- Quite a fountain of water was shooting up alongside Arkansas Highway 72 west of Gravette late Friday afternoon after cable crews working in the area accidentally cut into city water lines.

The break occurred just east of the old Westfield Home Center and affected only the smaller six-inch water line. The main 12-inch line was not cut but city crews had to work overtime to repair the damage. They were able to clamp off the broken section and did not have to install a new section of pipe.

About 600,000 gallons of water were lost before the leak was repaired.
