Gentry man arrested on charges of forgery, theft and fraud

GENTRY -- Police arrested Timothy D. Merek, 49, of Gentry, on Jan. 7, in connection with two counts of forgery and one count each of theft and identity fraud.

According to police, Merek was arrested on a warrant last week for allegedly writing two checks on another man's account without permission and using the victim's social security card to obtain a duplicate debit card. Police reports also allege that Merek took $50 from the victim's wallet without permission. The alleged crimes took place in November of 2014.
