Highfill Breakfast

A breakfast will be served at Highfill United Methodist Church on Saturday, Feb. 7, from 8 until 10:30 a.m. Payment would be appreciated in the form of a food or money donation to the church's food pantry.

Cooking Seminar

"Simply Fun with Cooking" is the name of a special cooking seminar to be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 17, at the Gentry United Methodist Church. The cooking class, sponsored by the Gentry Senior Activity and Wellness Center, will feature chef Janet Covey Novotny. She will speak and demonstrate preparing a four-course meal. Registration for the seminar is $12 in advance and $15 at the door. Proceeds will benefit the Senior Center's meal program. Door prizes will be given away. Hiwasse Revival

Hiwasse Church of the Nazarene will hold a revival with Dan Bohi on Thursday and Friday, Feb. 5 and 6, at the church, 13560 W. Hwy. 72 in Hiwasse. For more information, call Larry Weihe at 479-787-5204.

GYO Spring Sports

Gentry Youth Organization has rolled out registrations for the 2015 baseball/softball/T-ball season. Forms are at the schools or can be printed off the Gentry Youth Organization Facebook page. Deadline to turn in registration forms is Feb. 20.

Tips for Prom

The Gentry High School junior class will be doing a fundraiser night at Pioneer Pizza in which GHS students will be waiting tables for tips for the prom during the dinner hour on Feb. 2. All tips given will be used towards the high school prom.

Legislative Briefings

The Siloam Springs Chamber of Commerce will host local legislative briefings in Siloam Springs on Saturday, Jan. 31, Saturday, Feb. 28, and Saturday, March 28. The briefings will focus on the 2015 Legislative Session in Little Rock, which started on Jan. 12. The briefings will begin at 10:30 a.m. in the First Bank community room in Signature Plaza and end by noon. Briefings will feature newly-elected District 87 Representative Robin Lundstrum. Others who may attend include Rep. Dan Douglas and Sen. Jim Hendren. The meeting is free and coffee will be available. It is sponsored by Walmart Supercenter/Walmart Neighborhood Market/Walmart Express, AEP/SWEPCO, Comprehensa, and First Bank. Reservations are not required. For more information call 524-6466.

Nominations Sought

Gentry's Annual Awards Night will be Thursday, Feb. 19, at the Wooden Spoon Restaurant in Gentry. Dinner will begin at 6 p.m. and the program will begin at 7 p.m. Deadline for award nominations is Jan. 30. The chamber is currently taking nominations for 2014 Outstanding Volunteer, 2014 Outstanding Businessperson, 2014 Outstanding Civic Organization, 2014 Rookie of the Year and 2014 Outstanding Citizen. The Chamber of Commerce board of directors will vote on the nominations. The chamber is also accepting nominations for the Lifetime Achievement Awards. The purpose of this award is to honor those who have made a positive impact on Gentry and to make sure they are not forgotten in the town's history. It is suggested that the honorees lived and/or worked and/or volunteered in the community for a minimum of 25 years. Nominations can be living or deceased individuals. GED Classes Offered

GED classes are under way at the Gravette Public Library, 407 Charlotte St., S.E. Spring classes are under way and will continue on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 4 to 6 p.m. through May 6, 2015.

Chamber Banquet

The Greater Gravette Chamber of Commerce will hold its second annual banquet from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12. The event will be held at Horton Farms, 15772 Bethlehem Rd., in Gravette. Tickets are $30 per person or $200 for a table of eight and may be purchased at OCH Hospital in Gravette, Arvest Bank, the Bank of Gravett and at Gravette City Hall. All community members are encouraged to attend the banquet, which will feature dinner, networking and door prizes. Care and Share Volunteers

Volunteers are needed at Care and Share in Gravette. Churches or organizations are needed to work at Care and Share two or three weeks per year, and individuals are needed to work at their own convenience. For more information, call Tom at 479-344-6114

Sulphur Library Hours

Staff at the Sulphur Springs Library announce they have instituted winter hours effective immediately. The library is now open from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Fridays only.

Library VHS Tape Sale

Gravette Public Library is having a closeout sale on all their VHS tapes. Sale price for each tape is 50 cents. DVDs will continue to be available for checkout.

Tailgating, GUE Style

Students at Gravette Upper Elementary School and their parents are invited to a "Tailgating, GUE Style" event at the school Thursday night. Doors will open at 5:45 and parent night begins at 6 p.m. Students on each grade level have created science, math and literacy activities. Each child will be allowed to choose two activities to do with his parents. Childcare is available for younger siblings so parents can focus on enjoying quality time with their upper elementary student. Community Dinners

A special community dinner, hosted by New Wine Minstries, is planned from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 24 at Decatur High School. All are welcome, and there is no charge for the dinner.

Gravette Lions Club

Gravette Lions Club meets at 1 p.m. on the first and the third Tuesday of every month at the Billy V. Hall Wellness and Activity Center on Limekiln Road in Gravette. New members are welcome.

Gravette Kiwanis

The Gravette Kiwanis Club holds breakfast meetings at 7 a.m. each Friday at the cafeteria in Ozarks Community Hospital. Guests are welcome.

Gentry Lions Club

Gentry Lions Club meets at 6:30 p.m. on the second and fourth Monday of each month in the McKee Community Room, in the Gentry Public Library, on Main Street at N. Collins Ave. New members and visitors are welcome.

Gravette Legion

Gravette American Legion Post 25 meets at 7 p.m. the third Tuesday of the month at the Civic Center. All veterans are encouraged to attend. No meetings are planned for January or February.

Singing Services

Monthly singing services at Falling Springs Church are held at 7 p.m., the first Friday of each month. The church is located northwest of Gentry and west of Decatur on Falling Springs Road.

Decatur VFW Meetings

VFW Post 9834 meets at 7:30 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month. New members and guests are welcome. The facility is three miles east of Decatur on Arkansas Highway 102 and right on Tilly's Hill Road.
