DECATUR -- The Decatur Medi Clinic announced the addition of a new physician assistant to its clinic located on 346 N. Main Street in Decatur.

Jesse Stafford, M.S. PA-C (master of science physician's assistant -- certified), will join forces with Dr. Kim Mitchell-Silver to provide Decatur area residents with the best medical service possible.

Stafford did his undergraduate work at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville and received his master's degree in December of 2014 from Harding University in Searcy.

This is the first position as a physician assistant for Stafford.

"I am glad to be back in the Northwest Arkansas area and to see some familiar faces from around here," Stafford said.

Stafford is no stranger to Northwest Arkansas, hailing from Siloam Springs. Upon receiving news that an opening was available at Decatur Medi Clinic in May 2014, Stafford jumped on the opportunity to return to his roots. He interviewed for the job and was hired to fill the open physician assistant position. Stafford completed his degree program and joined the clinic staff Jan. 19.

He currently resides in the Northwest Arkansas area with his wife, Jennifer, and nearly-2-year-old son, Mac.

"We are glad to have Jesse here with us," said Michael McCollum, clinic administrator. "He will be a welcome addition to our staff."

The Decatur Medi Clinic was founded in 1963 by Edward "Bud" McCollum, who saw the need for rural healthcare in extreme Northwest Arkansas. In 1992 the clinic received certification as a rural health clinic and continues to serve the community as a primary healthcare provider.

Clinic services range from sport and work physicals to diagnostics such as x-rays and EKGs to preventative, acute illness and urgent care needs.

The Decatur Medi Clinic is a family practice clinic specializing in care for all ages, from pediatric to geriatric. The clinic's hours of operation are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

"I am very glad to be back in my home area meeting the healthcare needs of Decatur and the surrounding areas of Northwest Arkansas," said Stafford.
