Gravette pool now open

GRAVETTE -- After some delays, the Gravette pool is now open for business and swimmers, young and old, are enjoying the refreshing waters.

The pool opened June 16 and is operating seven days a week. Pool hours are 12 noon to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays.

Cost to swim at the pool is $1 for youngsters age 8 and under and $2 for anyone over 8. Family passes can be purchased for $100 for five people, plus $10 for each person above five. Individual summer passes are $50 per person.

A teen night will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. on Thursdays. Cost is $4. The pool is available for rental for two hours on other evenings at a cost of $75 for 25 guests or less and $100 for more than 25 guests.

Swimming lessons are being offered for anyone needing instruction. The swim class lasts for eight days, with 30 minutes of instruction each day. Cost for the class is $50. Senior swim aerobics sessions are held Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 9 a.m.

The pool manager is Shyanne Nichols, who has worked at the pool for five years. Kendra Greenhaw is assistant manager. Six lifeguards are employed at the pool and work rotating shifts so that someone is on duty at all times.
