GRAVETTE -- Ozarks Community Hospital of Gravette announced the addition of a new general surgeon, Stephen Morrison, M.D., to the medical staff.

Starting this month, Dr. Morrison will be available weekly to provide evaluation and treatment for outpatient surgery referrals at the OCH of Gravette Clinic. In July, Dr. Morrison will begin performing outpatient surgeries at the Gravette hospital, including hernia repairs, lumpectomies and laparoscopic surgeries.

"Dr. Morrison will be a familiar face for many as he previously rotated to the Gravette clinic for many years," said Jessica Bolin, clinic manager. "We are extremely excited for him to return to Gravette as he will be providing a much-needed resource for the community and our patients."

Dr. Morrison received his medical degree from St. Louis University School of Medicine and University of Arkansas School for Medical Sciences. He is a member of the American Board of Surgery and the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Morrison is also affiliated with the Northwest Medical Center of Bentonville. Springdale and Siloam Springs.

Dr. Morrison can accept outside referrals. To contact the Gravette clinic, call 479-787-5221.

Rodinsky joins staff

OCH is also welcoming Wanda Rodinsky, LCSW, to the medical staff.

Rodinsky will be working with the OCH Geriatric Intensive Outpatient Program, an expanded professional mental health program designed to meet the needs of senior adults, ages 65 and older, who are dealing with emotion or behavioral issues often related to aging. Rodinsky will collaborate with a team of health care professionals at OCH to help lead patients to their optimal mental health and recovery.

"We are thrilled to have Wanda on our team," said Judith Harvey, IOP director. "She comes to our program not only with long-term professional experience but with a great compassion toward every patient."

Rodinsky graduated from the University of Iowa where she received her masters of social work degree. She then went on to complete two years of advanced training in family and children's systems therapy. She is a member of the National Association of Social Workers, International Welfare Association, Soroptimist Federations of the Americas and is an associate member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy.

Geriatric Services

Coming this July, OCH of Gravette is expanding services to encompass a geriatric intensive outpatient program.

The OCH Geriatric IOP is a professional mental health program designed to meet the individual needs of senior adults ages 65 and older who are dealing with emotional or behavioral issues often related to aging. The program is for patients who require less than 24-hour care and who may need a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation and more treatment than can reasonably be provided in a traditional outpatient setting.

"Outpatient behavioral services of this scope do not exist within our region, and our community is lacking in training to improve the care and quality of life for this population," said Judith Harvey, IOP program director. "OCH created this program because we want to be the premier education and advocacy arm for geriatric and behavioral health in the surrounding area."

The Geriatric IOP begins with a free initial evaluation by a clinical professional to determine the need of each patient. Then a multidisciplinary team develops and individualized treatment plan and goals to measure patient participation and progress. The primary goal of treatment is to restore a patient's overall well-being and ability to function effectively in the home and community.

Physicians, health care professionals, human service agencies, family members or friends may make referrals. Transportation is available to and from the program at no cost, if needed. For more information about OCH's Geriatric IOP, call 479-344-6725.
