MAYSVILLE -- It was a busy day in Maysville on Saturday as area residents gathered to celebrate the annual Maysville Day.

The day included a 5K and 1-mile run in the morning, a pancake breakfast, a car cutting demonstration by the Maysville Fire Department, a beauty pageant, car show and parade, music and games.

The clanging of the horseshoes could be heard throughout the day as area contenders battled for the local championship.

All About the Father's Business and the Cornerstone Quartet sang a variety of gospel music over the noon hour as visitors enjoyed their lunches out beneath the shade trees in front of the old school house and community building.

Inside, a craft fair was under way, with craft booths filling the community building. Face painting was available for the children.

Children's games began after lunch, and a medical helicopter was scheduled to drop in too.

More live music was set to begin at 4 p.m. and continue into the evening.
