GENTRY -- A number of Gentry teachers and support staff are retiring at the close of the current school year. Among those are the following:

Cynthia Diane Burrus -- seventh grade science -- 31 years total service -- 23 in the Gentry District; Jo Derwin -- GIS counselor -- 41 years total service -- eight years with the district; Mitchell Godwin -- district maintenance supervisor -- 10 years with district; Joan Myers -- fourth grade -- 39 years total -- eight years with district; Steve Summers -- GMS Counselor -- 27 years total -- 19 years in district; Sherrie Curry -- GIS music teacher -- 38 years total -- 10 years in district; David Shelby -- GHS social studies -- 35 years total -- 35 in district; Reine Moore -- sixth grade reading and language arts -- 25 years total -- 25 in district. Also retiring was Cris Stanfill, secretary at the middle school, after 20 years of service.
