GRAVETTE -- Last Saturday, the Gravette Historical Museum hosted its fourth annual special "My Collection" exhibit.

Collectors from Rogers, Bentonville, Decatur and Gravette brought their personal collections and put them on display for the community to view. This year there were collections of arrowheads, baseball and football cards, hay hooks, horses, pin-back buttons, hankies, pocket watches, vintage fruit jars, Santas, teapots, Saturday Evening Post magazines and post cards.

Those who viewed the exhibits voted for their favorite display, and Stephen Varner won the "People's Choice" plaque for his outstanding collection of arrowheads. The arrowheads were attractively mounted and displayed in several beautiful wood cases.

Museum commissioner Steve Mitchael explained that the exhibit is hosted each year as an opportunity for the community to learn about the hobby of collecting and the history of various collectible objects. All this is shared in a family-friendly event. The event also gives visitors from other communities throughout northwest Arkansas an opportunity to explore Gravette while in town for the exhibit.

Mitchael expressed thanks to the Bank of Gravett employees who served a fundraising lunch at the museum during the event. All proceeds benefit the museum. "The Bank of Gravett has been a great partner for the museum for 20 years," Mitchael added.
