Lions shut out Huntsville but lose to Shiloh Christian

GRAVETTE -- Though the Lions kept pace with the Shiloh Christian Saints for 2 1/2 innings in post-season play on Saturday, the Saints blew open the game in the bottom of the third to take a 10-1 lead and built on that lead to finish off the Lions, 15-1, after 5 1/2 innings.

Zach Nelson scored for the Lions in the top of the second after doubling to center. Nelson was driven in by a Bryce Moorman single to right. Moorman was two for two with his bat.

Cody Fields, Avery Burrow and Kilby Roberts all pitched in the game. The loss was charged against Fields.

Huntsville 0

Kyler Bunch pitched a shutout game for the Lions against Huntsville last week; and with two runs in the first and another four in the third, the Lions finished with a big post-season win.

Luke Summerford led the Lions with his bat, singling to center in the first and scoring on a Jake Ashworth line-drive single to right. Jackson Soule' who was hit by a pitch, managed to steal home on a passed ball for Gravette's first score of the game.

Then, in the bottom of the third, Brady Rolsma and Summerford singled and later scored on a Cody Fields fly-ball double to left and a Mathew Stelting ground-ball single to center. Stelting also made it home, to make it 6-0, Lions.

Bunch threw 64 pitches, allowed seven hits, walked none and struck out one in the shutout game. Gravette had nine hits in the game. Stelting had two RBIs.

Jay (Okla.) 5

In a non-league game on April 27, Jackson Soule' led the Lions with three hits in the 8-5 win at Jay, Okla. The Lions scored two runs each in the second, fourth, sixth and seventh innings to secure the victory.

Mathew Stelting had two RBIs in the game. Avery Burrow was the winning pitcher, though he pitched only one inning.
